We’re thrilled to announce our latest PoolParty release that is packed with improvements designed to significantly enhance user experience while maintaining our commitment to high security standards. This update introduces the enhanced Taxonomy Advisor, a sleek new interface, and notable performance upgrades.
Our inital PoolParty 2024 Release took place in June and covered big feature changes and additions. You can read more about that release on its corresponding deep dive page, but for now, let’s take a look at the enhancements made in Release 2.
The Enhanced Taxonomy Advisor
At the heart of our update is the enhanced Taxonomy Advisor, a cutting-edge LLM-based suggestion tool that utilizes Generative AI to empower subject matter experts. This tool streamlines the creation of taxonomies, making the process more efficient and precise.
The Taxonomy Advisor was released for the first time earlier this year in June to much acclaim. With this feature, a user can add concepts to the PoolParty taxonomy tree as they normally would, but now they have the option to pull from a list of suggestions generated by the LLM that is running in the background. The LLM is connected to the taxonomy and a repository of company documents and data that are linked to it, thus ensuring that the suggestions are domain specific and not random. Most importantly, the subject matter expert is still in the position to determine which concepts should be added and whether they want to refine the suggestions, but has to do less base research and structuring themselves.
With the Taxonomy Advisor you can:
- select from suggested narrower concepts and edit them
- select from suggested related concepts and edit them
- select from suggested definitions and edit them
- perform single or bulk suggestion operations
- check the created entries for consistency with the whole taxonomy
In this new release, one of the standout features is the auto-generated definitions, which enrich your knowledge graphs and taxonomies. These definitions provide crucial context for concepts, enhancing interpretability and supporting advanced AI applications like Graph Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG).
Streamlined Bulk Operations
The enhanced Taxonomy Advisor also boasts improved bulk operations. Users can now generate complete concept suggestions—complete with preferred labels, alternative labels, and definitions—within a single seamless process. This not only saves time but allows for greater productivity with fewer clicks, making your workflow more efficient.
Intuitive Single-Screen Interface
We’ve reimagined the user interface to offer an intuitive single-screen experience. All data is presented clearly, allowing you to effortlessly edit and refine information, remove unnecessary elements, and review results—all within one convenient view.
Significant Performance Improvements in PoolParty GraphSearch
We’ve also made considerable advancements in GraphSearch functionality. GraphSearch serves as the backbone to the PoolParty Search frontend application, optimizing an organization’s ability to find and access information through its semantic search capabilities. GraphSearch detects the contextual meaning behind a search query to generate more precise results in a fraction of the time. With PoolParty GraphSearch, users can benefit from full-text search that understands the user’s natural language, faceted search that helps to narrow down results, and visual analytics of the document library that the platform draws upon.
In PoolParty 2024 Release 2, the performance and scalability of GraphSearch have been enhanced, enabling it to handle larger search spaces while maintaining high levels of search and filtering performance. The functionality improvements have also enabled greater compatibility with GraphDB, ensuring a seamless offering promised by Graphwise – the merger of Ontotext and Semantic Web Company.
A Fresh, Modern Look for Enhanced Usability
In addition to functional enhancements, we’ve revamped the user interface to provide a sleek, modern aesthetic. This comprehensive redesign goes beyond looks; it incorporates ergonomic design principles to reduce eye strain and enhance visual comfort during extended use.
The new interface improves overall visual clarity, with a thoughtful color palette that enhances navigation and helps users understand the relationships between different elements in the application; the new color scheme clearly differentiates between data interaction areas and service-related sections.
Considerable usability improvements have been made to the Corpus Management functionality of PoolParty. The PoolParty UX/UI developers have greatly reduced the number of steps that are needed to add candidate concepts to the taxonomy tree. Through a simple drag and drop mouse function, the user can move candidate concepts and extracted terms into their desired place in the tree (with the exception of the top-level concept scheme, of course) and they can also use quick keyboard shortcuts to add alternative labels to the existing concepts.
Overall, the enhanced visual hierarchy in the taxonomy allows for quicker comprehension of the information structure, facilitating smoother navigation throughout the app.
