ON-DEMAND WEBINAR

KNOWLEDGE GRAPHS FOR INFORMATION PROFESSIONALS

Enterprise Knowledge Graphs – Transforming Data into Knowledge

Speaker

Heather Hedden, Communications Manager & Knowledge Manager, Semantic Web Company

Date

August 17, 2023

There is a growing interest in knowledge graphs to organize information and make it findable in organizations with large amounts of data and content. Unlike prior technologies such as big data or federated search, a knowledge graph has a structure that is typically based on taxonomies and ontologies, and as such needs to involve taxonomists, information architects and other information professionals.

Knowledge graphs have more benefits than just information findability, including discovery, analysis, and recommendation. Knowledge graphs bring together content and data, and both unstructured and structured data. This technology gives organizations the framework to optimize workplace structures and processes, thus improving the employee experience and quality of service to customers.

This webinar explains the problems knowledge graphs aim to solve, definitions and history of knowledge graphs, knowledge graph components (data in a graph database, taxonomies, and ontologies), building a knowledge graph, and example applications that information professionals can use.

Take-aways:

  • Understand what a knowledge graph is and what its distinguishing features and components are
  • Recognize the benefits of a knowledge graph
  • Know how a knowledge graph is built
  • Become familiar with standards and the industry around knowledge graphs
