On its own, the Insider Intelligence search engine was not capable of suggesting results based on related keywords and could only retrieve articles based on the exact term entered in the search field by the user. In order to map related keywords prior to PoolParty, Insider Intelligence’s research taxonomy teams and platform engineers has to compile data and manually mapping the relationships between search terms together before they could be implemented in the platform for end users (i.e., the clients). 

System engineers were wasting programming time on research activities, internal users were relying on outdated Excel sheets to translate their content to relevant searches, and altogether, any changes that were needed to be made to the search platform could take anywhere from 2 weeks to months to implement after trends were observed. Insider Intelligence came to PoolParty looking for a taxonomy management tool that would simplify the process of getting their research taxonomy up and running.
