Why Semantic Knowledge Graphs matter

For many organizations, it has become obvious that knowledge graphs and taxonomies are key elements in order to solve several issues in information and data management.

Nevertheless, various methods to develop and maintain those are being discussed and it often remains unclear which of them should be applied. The PoolParty approach envisages an initial simple taxonomy (based on SKOS) to become more and more extended over time, e.g. by the application of ontologies, rules, graph mappings, and linked data harvesting. This gradual approach has turned out to be a more practical way for most industries instead of starting with sophisticated ontologies first.
